American Crane & Transport Magazine featured the Maeda MC405 Mini Crawler Crane in its latest issue and talked about how Power Engineering Construction (PEC) utilized the crane on the expansion of the downtown San Francisco Ferry Terminal’s South Basin.
Because the project is sandwiched between historic buildings and the San Francisco Bay PEC needed a machine that would give them the power to hoist materials inside the very confined job site in the newly constructed plaza and promenade area.
“The small footprint and mobility of the crane is extremely beneficial,” Jeff Van Meter, PEC project manager, told the magazine. “The compact size of the crane when traveling allows us to use it on all areas of the job site for a variety of tasks. Additionally, the rubber tracks limit the stress applied to the pier structure.”
